Overview

Nestled quietly between 5th and Dolores Street in the charming town of Carmel-By-The-Sea, Haifa Coffeehouse offers more than just a cup of coffee — it delivers a cultural experience steeped in authenticity and warmth. This Palestinian-owned café stands out as a soulful retreat for those seeking a meaningful connection to Middle Eastern traditions through carefully crafted beverages and a welcoming space.

The highlight here is the thoughtfully curated menu that features unique blends like the Jerusalem coffee, infused with cinnamon, cane sugar, and aromatic cardamom, and the Dubai Mocha, a luxurious harmony of pistachio syrup and rich chocolate. Alongside these, the Matcha Latte and specialty teas such as Tulkarem cardamom and sage tea broaden the selection for visitors with varied tastes. The ingredients have stories of their own—turmeric for the golden milk sourced from Egypt, and Yemeni coffee beans that add depth and authenticity to every sip.

More than a coffee shop, Haifa Coffeehouse excels as a cultural gem tucked away in a cozy corner of Carmel. Its interior reflects a blend of Palestinian and Mexican influences, seen in both décor and artwork, which invites guests into a vibrant narrative. The thoughtful homage to Palestinian history woven throughout the space enriches the atmosphere, making each visit feel like a journey rather than a simple stop for coffee.

The experience here is enhanced by genuine hospitality. Guests frequently praise the staff’s warmth and attentiveness, creating a sense of community and belonging. Despite busy times, the team manages to maintain a personal touch that leaves visitors eager to return. This makes the coffeehouse ideal for locals, travelers, and anyone looking to savor distinctive flavors amid a backdrop of cultural pride.

This is such a cute coffeehouse! As a Middle Eastern, it’s so nice to find a place that appreciates our culture, and this place does exactly that. The staff is so sweet and friendly, they were even kind enough to share the story behind opening this place up (definitely worth asking). The food and drinks are unique and delicious! Thank you for having us, and you will definitely see us again!

A beautiful cultural gem tucked away in Carmel. Haifa Coffeehouse is a charming little spot hidden in an alley, and it ended up being one of the most memorable stops of our trip. The staff were exceptionally kind and welcoming—you feel the warmth immediately. The coffee itself was outstanding: incredibly smooth, flavorful, and clearly made with care. What really sets this place apart is the intention behind the ingredients. They import turmeric for their golden milk directly from Egypt and coffee beans from Yemen, which adds a depth and authenticity you can truly taste. We ordered the golden milk, the Dubai mocha, and the Akka (pistachio latte). Every drink was delicious and beautifully balanced—comforting yet distinctive. An absolute must-try. Beyond the drinks, the space is rich with meaning. There’s a thoughtful tribute to the history of Palestine and stunning artwork throughout, creating a genuine sense of cultural immersion. It’s not just a coffee shop—it’s a place that brings the flavors, stories, and soul of the world together in a meaningful way. They also sell raw Yemeni coffee beans if you want to roast your own. I picked some up and can’t wait to try them. Haifa Coffeehouse is special—intentional, soulful, and deeply rooted in culture. A must-visit in Carmel.

I am absolutely in love with this coffee shop! The drinks and pastries that they serve were delicious, and the staff and owner were so kind and welcoming. My mom and I stopped by while visiting carmel and we purchased coffee and a pistachio croissant, delishhhh! I'm obsessed with all of the palestinian/mexican inspired decor, it's amazing to see two such beautiful cultures mixed. We will be back with more friends and family next time we're in the area, this is definitely worth a stop! Thank you so much for the wonderful service!

Amazing Palestinian-owned cafe with delicious drinks and welcoming staff. It is a bit tricky to find but just look for the Toro Sushi, and walk all the way to the back of the alley. The cafe will be to your left. I thought my oat milk latte was perfectly prepared. The space was also decorated nicely and had pleasing music. A great place to bring your friends and family.

This was a wonderful spot to stop in during our trip in California! The coffee and food were all high quality and the woman working was amazing! She was running the place by herself, making the food and drinks while also managing the register and cleaning up. It was busy but she managed it all very impressively. We were blessed with a great visit and would love to return!

Lovely and serene coffee shop in Carmel. I am a big coffee fan and am so glad I stopped here on the way to Big Sur. The coffee was delicious, I got the Nablus drink which has orange blossom and pistachio. Very subtle yet impactful and natural flavors and great quality. I also got the chance to speak with the owner, who is absolutely lovely. I can’t wait to come back the next time im in the area. I highly recommend stopping by and experiencing the coffee and culture.
